Because its a E250 VAN I suggest only using premium quality spark plugs and a good set of quality plug wires BECAUSE it's not the easiest area to work in and access, you will spend sometime on number 1 cylinder along with threading wires etc, plugs double platinum or better The 1998 5.4 is the same as every other engine no magic! "TRADITIONAL PLUG WIRES" just good quality. $75

There are no plug wires just coil packs. And I cannot afford to throw that much in since I am waiting on my disability and income at this time is $400.00 a month so is there a less expensive alternative? I have already purchased a set of eight coil packs so good to go there

The '98 5.4 has coil on plug, scan this before doing anything see if it show a misfire indicating a COP or possibly just a spark plug... Have it read for codes, even if the check engine light is NOT on the computer will have stored information and codes. Discount auto stores will read codes for no fee. Write them down. How many miles on it?.. WAIT! Coil packs or 8 cop ignition coils long and round not square type with 8 plug wire ends?

OK its not coil packs its a 8 separate (coil on plug) system. I read your info incorrectly I just double checked your '98 5.4 Triton. It needs good double platinum spark plugs. If you purchased the 8 COP ignition coils your good to go. Just have these parts installed.

They have 8 coils that click onto spark plugs .use a dab of di electric grease .coils should be replaced when doing plugs . Got mine online for cheap as hell and had no issues .
