03 suburban cranks but wont start has new fuel pump

Asked by Elsmith1008 Aug 12, 2019 at 03:57 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LS RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Parked my suburban then went out a couple hours later
and it would crank but wouldn't start. Next morning I went
out and it started just fine. I ran some errands came home
then about an hour later went to leave and it would crank
but not start. Changed the fuel filter and fuel pump but still
nothing. I do not hear the fuel pump come on either.
Anyone have any ideas?

How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? Make sure battery has a full charge and battery cables/connections all good? Have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the plugs? If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse, engine cranking. If your missing everything, I usually check for rpm signal, comes from crank sensor. Don't replace anything unless your testing points in that direction. You can check voltage and ground to fuel pump, if you think that is the only issue? At the pump, gray wire is usually voltage, black wire is ground, check them both.
