Is my 2003 Chevy cavalier worth fixing or should I sell it

Asked by Angel May 06, 2018 at 05:08 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier LS Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 Chevy cavalier that has a blown head
gasket. Everything else runs just fine  and I really
do want to keep this car but I've been told that it
isn't worth it because trying to fix the head gasket
is expensive and I'm struggling to make ends meet
already. I've toyed with the idea of putting in a new
engine but I'm not sure if will even be worth it. Any
opinions?

That is your choice. Price the head gasket repair and look at the value of the car to you and what it would cost to replace it. If the car is low miles and in otherwise good shape it might make sense to fix. On the other hand if it has high miles and is clapped out I would use the repair money for a down on a newer car. Nix the new engine as there is no way it would be cost effective.
