1994 280C Benz, what to look out for. Buying

I have a 1995 C280....loved it from the start, love driving it, feel safe in it, has rear wheel drive....you have to be proactive in the snow & on rainy slick streets. Bought it with 103,000 miles on it. Had to put some repairs into it, but thought it was worth it..... It is small, but perfect for driving to work. I have owned it for 5 years, have roughly 137,000 miles on it. The "hoses" that cool the transmission (or feed the transmission the oil) cracked & broke, I lost power slowly, couldn't get out of the traffic, then lost all acceleration completely, stuck until my tow truck arrived. I have waited 2 days for the mechanic to get the "hoses" then he is going to see if the transmission is "shot". Can't find a transmission he says....just in case... might see if he can rebuild it!!! I wanted to take this car out to 200,000 miles. I have had timely maintenance done. I am a little disheartened. I thought I would buy another Mercedes. Not so sure right now. My stereo doesn't work any more, the console faux burled wood is cracked & chipping away...too small to glue back in place. There is a little rust, but the rest of the interior looks great.
