can i change my factory stereo in my 2004 chevy malibu and not lose the
information from the panel

The Chevy factory stereos are paired to match the vin of the vehicle it was originally installed in. If you replace your factory stereo w/another Chevy stereo the stereo will go into a theft “locked” mode which only the dealer can unlock and pair it to your car. It cost me $145.00 to have it paired. We removed a after market kenwood stereo because it didn’t sync w/the steering wheel calling features and none of the vehicles interior warning bells would not work. If you install a aftermarket stereo there’s an additional unit that needs to be installed to allow the warning bells to sound
