Is my suspension okay?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Let me start off by saying I don't know much about cars. Especially with
suspension components. I bought my 2004 cavalier yesterday and when I
looked closer at it today, I noticed there is a plate at the bottom of this coil and
it is within 1/4-1/2" from my tire. Is this normal? Should I be worried about the
tire hitting this when I'm driving?

This is one of you front struts, and no it will not hit the tire, it will stay exactly were it is in relation to the tire. Thanks for the picture, it really helps.
