05 tundra sways when braking

Asked by GuruZ2WPZ Nov 24, 2017 at 10:29 PM about the 2005 Toyota Tundra 4 Dr Limited V8 Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

bought my Toyota Tundra about a month ago. The truck
has 227k on it and when test driving it i noticed that the
brakes where really soft and the truck swayed to the left
then grabbed and pulled hard to the right. Aince
purchasing i have replaced pads rotors calipers shoes
drums master cylinder also put new struts shocks with
front end enlightenment. When i got the enlightenment the
driver side  tire rod had to be replaced aswell . Since that
the brakes work much better than befor but are still some
what soft and the sway is still there it dosnt pull to bad
now to the right but slightly does only when i have to
break hard is it REALLY noticeable and it seems like then
are sticking. There is a small viberation in the dash slightly
noticeable when you are between 40 and 50 mph after
that smooth also the driver side tire turns in slightly you
can hear the tires grab different even with the windows up
. I love the truck this is the only thing i cant figure out. I
have already spent 2k on the brake system any
suggestions would be appreciated

You list calipers but did you replace them or rebuild them? Grease the slide pins? Bench bleed master cylinder? You mention doing one tie rod end, did you check all of them - inner and outer? How about ball joints, control arm bushings, sway links? As far as you've gone, and given the mileage, why not get a front end rebuilt kit?

I had the breaks rebuilt at a shop so those where all new parts and he said that he Bleed everything the front end got done at a shop and he said he checked everything . I am going to redo the front end here in a few months i just didnt know if the brake’s and swaying was something that could be fixed in the mean time. Thanks

Found out the problem it was the ball joints needing to be replaced driving like new now
