Check engine light and brake warning lights on in a 2005 Chevy Trail blazer

Asked by ocon18 Jan 31, 2019 at 03:52 PM about the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Its been very cold up here in Wisconsin. Yesterday it was -22 and my car
hesitated to start, but once the engine was warm drove fine. It was -28 last
night but has since gotten up to -4. I went to start my trailblazer and it
hesitated again but this time the check engine light and the engine limited
power light were on (engine with down arrow light).
I also noticed a slight shake to the car, that I would have to assume was the
engine.
I shut it off and tried turning it on again, and this time the reduced power light
went off, but the ABS and emergency brake lights came on even though they
were not engaged.
Does anyone have any insight on what this could be?

Same exact thing happened to me. Same temp here in Indiana. I left work of all places and I could only go about 5 mph

I'm seeing a lot of people with our platform in these deep freeze areas. Sounds like your throttle body needs to be cleaned. Possible it's not able to move freely, and being frozen doesn't help. Maybe try warming it up longer. If you have a garage to stay somewhat warm in, remove fuses #10 and #28 under the hood. Remove the throttle body and clean it. Should help with the hesitation. ABS light could be steering wheel position sensor, which is very common with our platform. If you shut the engine off and start back up, does the light go away?
