I second Ed's response. Our timing chains are bullet proof on our platform. Highly doubt that's the problem.

I have about 240,000 miles on mine and i just had everything replaced new oil new spark plugs and tune up and it still makes this sound like if something is dragging under the car but last night when I was having the oil changed I asked if they can check the bars and if I something was lose and they said everything was fine but I still can’t get to far without that sound.

O4 rainier 4.2 engine guides worn enuff and chain stretched causing it to walk one tooth on the crankshaft gear poo17 code still there after a vvt solenoid and cmp ckp sensors so opened the engine .... CHAINS DON'T LAST THE LIFE OF ANY ENGINE they wear out just like bearings rings and seals just takes longer 212k on original 4.2 l6 timing out enough to run poorly again TIMING CHAINS DO NOT LAST THE LIFE OF THE ENGINE

Ive always been told if tour timing belt/chain breaks then scrap the vehicle. The odds are your engine is ruined after the break. Its why they say to change it as so & so miles before it breaks because wait too long then its that plus a new engine.& odds are your car is not worth such cost. I only had one break & the tech thinks i turned off the car so quickly it saved my Engine quoted me $700 for all day job but expect a shop to charge 2000 if new Engine up to 5000 There are more related costs if its an engine belt/chain Replacement
