pulled heads of for valve job put them back on started the truck and oil started pouring out, pulled the top of and had oil on top of the engine but don't see why.

Sounds like you put head gasket on backwards c0vered up the oil drain holes that lead back to the block .

What's better? A new after-market part, or a used OEM? I'm shopping for a valve cover for a 1996 Toyota T100, and the price difference between the two is $27.
