High rpms

Asked by Zero_45 Mar 18, 2017 at 02:13 AM about the 2005 Chevrolet Impala FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the thermostat in my impala, and now
the rpms are running way too high. It's going about
50 mph and I'm barely pressing on the gas pedal.
Normally I have to press a little bit to get up to that
speed from a dead stop. Any advice or ideas?

See if a vacuum line came off or cracked and is leaking. Vacuum leaks cause high Idle.

Just look around in the area you were working. Something may be disconnected. I agree with enginecreator on this.

I changed my throttle body in my 2008 chevy impala 3.5 . now when I start my car my Rpm goes up.
