Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

Engine burned out on a long road trip.  Needs a new engine.  I've looked into
used & new engines.  Want to know approximate worth for resale value with a
new engine, zero miles.

If your planing to keep & drive, no worries just do it. If your want to replace it with another car or already did, sell it needing the swap or rebuild. To some people new engine sounds great and they hope to buy it dirt cheap and cheaper than it cost for that new engine too, When I read an ad has new/rebuilt engine I think how it was done, or incorrectly done better said, what is missing or left undone, are the motor mount loose, that kinda stuff and forget I even saw that ad. Why spend all the money fix someone else that is going to poke at every detail then low ball offer you. I doubt the swapped engine will net any more money and unless you do all the work it could cost more money to get it up and running than you can sell it for. May actually make more money by selling it just like it is, I will say this if the plan is to sell it, clean it up, like its worth fixing it, to add appeal.
