I want to put a CD player in my Corolla, but the radio is in built in the dash, so do I have to take out dash to put in a CD player?

I looked at a picture of the 2001 Corolla radio/dash unit on google images. From what I am looking at, I would say that the piece that surrounds the radio, vents, and clock should come off. Sometimes working with the dash in some cars just really isn't worth bothering with yourself, as it can be a lot of hassle, and the $50 it costs to have Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. install it for you turns out to be worth it. But, if you want to do it yourself, take a small flat head screwdriver and CAREFULLY start to try to pry the radio surround out from the bottom first (that way if you scratch it, it will be less noticeable). Once you have the surround piece off, you should be able to tell how to get it the rest of the way out. From the looks of it, the corners around the radio are slightly rounded, so you may end up having to purchase a replacement dash piece that does not have rounded corners. Best Buy, or a car electronics specialty store should carry the piece if it is necessary. You should also need an aftermarket radio harness to connect you new radio to your original wiring.
