What could be causing stalling when hot?

Asked by gilster Apr 28, 2012 at 07:15 PM about the 1995 Toyota Corolla DX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The car recently stalled at light and had to get pushed off the road. After about 15-30 min. It started. Mechanic
couldn't find anything wrong. Only stalls when driven over 30 min. Any suggestions?

coolant temp sensor (CTS) most definitely, but if that doesn't work then maybe EGR Valve, AIS Sensor, or ECT Sensor. Yoann doesn't know what he is talking about lol.

I am going through the same exact crap right now, cleaned the throttle body, replaced the MAF sensor, and the O2 sensor but still it stalls at lights after being driven 30 minutes or more. I am looking to replace the CTS (Coolant Temperature Sensor) today and from the other hundred forums and mechanics I have spoken with, it seems this is the most likely cause of our stalling issues!

Yoann does know what he's talking about. Main relay is a known fault, either due to water ingress or simple relay failure. Thanks!
