Where is the thermostat located on a 1996 Toyota Celica ST with a 1.8 Liter?

The thermostat seems to be located on the lower hose, is this correct?  It is definitely not on the upper hose.

Usually just follow the top radiator hose to where it goes into the block and it should be right there. The bottom hose usually goes to the water pump. Just google 96 celica thermostat housing and click on images. You should be able to identify it then.
