2005 Chevy Cobalt

Asked by RedU79 Feb 28, 2019 at 03:11 PM about the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My neice has a 05 cobalt, she told me it was
shaking real bad when started it. First off I checked
oil. It had bo oil and had antifreeze mixed with oil
all the way up the stick. So I added oil, still shakes
and when drives has absolutely no power, floor it
and goes about 35 mph. Would this be bad plugs,
or more like head gasket or rings?

If it was rings ud be able to remove your oil filler cap and you have tons of pressure blowing out of it

Ok, the check engine light also came on in this process and code comes back as misfire. That still could be head gasket because that could cause the plugs to fail correct?

If coolant is entering the cylinders yes this can cause a misfire, or if the cylinders compression is so low bc of a bad head gasket once again it can cause a misfire... theres so many variables and so many directions it can go thats why i say its hard to get advice online

Id get a cheap compression tester feom a parts store and test each cylinders compression and make sure they are all kinda equal to each other(greater than 100 psi) you dont 2 wit 180 and 2 with 60
