If the CEL CAME ON...consider having the computers on this vehicle Scanned for codes. Most Auto Parts Stores will scan for codes for Free. Write down code numbers and descriptions. Get back with results.

Ok....next question. Take this vehicle for a ride and see if the ODOMETER functions smoothly. If the odometer registers a correct mileage change when the vehicle is moving...the Auto. Trans. Shifts properly....but the Speedo goes nuts.....my guess that the Cluster is defective ...but sensor A needs to be checked for function.

The odometer not working, the Speedometer stays at zero. Rpms work, transmission shifts fine. Fuel gauge needle moves.

Sounds like the Cluster might be the issue. Suggest a good used ..from a junk yard...or...Ebay?

Was the replacement cluster a rebuilt unit....and.....why was the original replaced?

It was a new unit, I had the same issue before with the speedometer , it went to zero. They replaced the speed sensor in the transmission, then the combination meter. It was done at a dealer.

Sure does sound like the cluster..again...went bad. If you still have a copy of the repair order see if they put in a New cluster.

According to the bill it was a new cluster. This was done at a dealer. Right now everything started working again. I wonder if it is a loose connection.

Hmm interestng. Is the CEL still on? Loose connection? Indeed. Next time you go down the road..smack the top of the dash above the cluster with the palm of your hand to see if the issue returns. Look at the battery connections under hood. Do they look funky corroded with white stuff present?

I took it to my mechanic he is checking all of the connections but the CEL went off.

My mechanic Replaced a different sensor on the transmission and has been working fine ever since. It wasn’t the speed sensor but I guess there is another one there that he replaced.
