Hello, I own a 2001 Toyota camry. My brake lights turn off when i brake instead of brightning up, why?

My Camry's brake lights seem to work or TURN ON, however when i actually do brake
they turn off instead of brighting up to allow drivers behind me to know that im braking.

I would say that your brake pedal switch has failed. If you look up under your steering wheel where the pedal is, you will see a little tin can with a threaded end on it with a blue plug connector on the other end. That's the switch.

One ck bk switch Two ck lamp failure sensor in trunk Ck wire harness going to yellow box 89373 in trunk on hinge they losen and cut when you open your trunk Check please let me know
