wont start but it cranks like a machine gun

the engines a 2.2 almost 230k it died in a
intersection no check engine lights and it ran
good all the way up till then. so when i try to
start it i get a very rapid crank (not a click)
and nothing more i had the battery tested it
was good sprayed starter fluid into the
intake still no start looked over all the fuses
none poped checked plugs for oil there
clean im really just lost now im thinking
timing belt? or the crankshaft sensor but like
i said car never showed any signs just died
and wont start but itll crank like a machine
gun. im stumped yall help me out

also id like to add that i was driving on e for a couple days and this happened about 5 miles after i filled it up.

Consider this. Pull the engine dips tick and check the oil for quantity and quality. Does the oil smell like GAS? Pull the spark plugs and take a Compression Test. Any liquids being pumped out of those cylinders? Check for SPARK. Get back with results.

Mike, the results!!? Mitsubishi Outlander 07 brand new battery stopped for pizza tried to start car sounded like a wrench was thrown in there entire car kicked too. Sounded like machine gun fire

suggestion....pull the engine oil dip stick and check the oil. what color is it? Does it smell like gasoline?
