99 Camry Le Fuse Issue

Asked by rickym8b Dec 16, 2014 at 07:26 AM about the 1999 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My heat and defroster sometimes come on, sometimes not. I went below the steering to
check the fuses, these seem smaller then the typical fuses. I notice the issue disappears
when the guage showing the engine is cold comes active, yet I can drive an hour before it
hits the "C' for cold, and rise up. My question is what size fuse-- a mini or micro fuse?
Not sure what size to get.

If it sometimes works and sometimes not, it's not a fuse issue. If it were, it would not work at all. Sounds like your blower motor is on it's way out. Next time it does not come on, take a heavy ratchet and smack the bottom of your motor. It's located in the upper passenger side corner under the glove box. If it suddenly comes to life after rapping it, that means it needs to be replaced. Here's a short video on how to replace the motor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqhxNVaGcYU

I forgot to mention, you will also need to replace your thermostat. That's why it takes an hour for your needle to move off C.
