you won't be able to get it off if the door is closed (the doors jams should stop the panel from popping off. Just so you know there are screws located in various places all over your car door that will come out and will let you take the door off. Sometimes in the Toyotas where is a screw that is inside the arm rest of the door, so make sure to check there too.
