When I turn to winshield defroster, a/c is on. I cannot turn it off.

If I turn knob to other function, I can turn a/c off just fine.

Hello autorepair-- Besides providing cool air on a hot day, the air conditioning also dehumidifies the air. It won't be blowing any cold air at you if the temperature is set to a warm setting, but the drier air will defrost your windows more effectively. See, you learn something new every day.
