Question type: Maintenance & Repair

New front pads, rear shoes, & rear drum cylinders.  After bleeding breaks, it
feels firm & works until car warms up.  The pedal will fall almost all the way
down, but still stops the car.

Any warning lights on or flashing? How about the Brake.....ABS lights?

It has a new master cylinder also. Yes, the RED light that says ''BREAKS'' comes on & stays on. No ABS lights though. I know it must have ABS, because there's a 60 A abs fuse in the fuse box.

Ok....with wheel cylinders and master cylinder replacement you most likely have AIR in the system. There are several methods suggested for bleeding brakes. I would suggest ...Gravity Bleeding first. Do a Google search for a video and get back to us with results. Most important. With any bleeding procedure you use...NEVER...let the Master Cylinder run dry...empty.

Thank you so much. I thought about that, because I saw that done by a mechanic before. He had the car on a lift & opened ALL four of the wheel valves. He drained them at the same time. Sure it worked. While bleeding mine, I saw a lot of dirt & dark fluid. Now it's clean looking, but that might only be in the filler. Will do this week & give you the results, thx.

Yes! This DEFINITELY helped. I was a little afraid to say it worked right away. But after a few days of watching it as I drove, the pedal has NOT fell to the floor. I still see the BREAK in red on dash. It could be that I have to clear the computer. I'm going to give it another quick round with bleeder. It should clear by itself. Thx again.

IF....you feel the brakes are now operating properly but the red brake warning light is still on....then...a special bleeding procedure may be required to....RECENTER...RESET....the Switch which controls that light. Run another Google search on your make model year and Red Brake Warning Light. Also...make sure your parking brake lever is completely realesed..
