can I change just the rear pumpkin on base model 2002 vitara instead of entire rear axle?

someone told me you have to have special tools when chengeing just pumpkin, I found pumpkin(no axles) or found entire rearend.Are special tools needed or can you just change pumpkins?

Is it a complete thirdmember or does it have carrier bolts an caps to remove ring gear from axle tube?

If thats the same as he has its complete thirdmember just have to make sure gear ratio is same on used tirdmemer as his old one.
