Subaru 2001 Legacy outback sedan lost remote entry. How do I shut off alarm.

Asked by Tari Oct 22, 2015 at 12:59 PM about the 2001 Subaru Legacy L AWD

Question type: General

Help Anyone know how to disable alarm system? Till I can get another remote ordered from dealer? When you open the door with the key the alarm will not shut up. Engine wont start. I disabled the battery reattached and still nothing but alarm.

mm.. idk if it's the same as the forester, but once you open the door, you turn the key from off to start three times, so key in, start, off, start, off, start, off .. all pretty fast. There is also a list somewhere, I'll look later tonight, that has all the key fobs for all the subaru's and which ones you can use (used) and directions on how to set them up to your car. There are even youtube videos to help.

Turn the ignition kkey rapidly three times, then start the car. Get another (used is ok) remote, and program it to your car. Easy.
