I just had this happen to me. Yesterday it said check charging system. I made it to work. Checked voltage and it was just under 8volts. I loaded the car. Brought it home and started it and no more warning. I checked the voltage and it was 14volts. I thought when alternators went bad they just quit. Any suggestions?

Just like most things in life sometimes it goes all at once then sometimes it gives you a warning before it stops working.
