Low Idle/Engine Running Roughly

Asked by Brandon Oct 03, 2018 at 07:44 PM about the 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The problem started when I first had trouble starting the car. It sometimes
stutters when turning over, and at times it will die immediately after starting.
Starting problems have increased in frequency along with a lack of power,
and an unusually low idle. I attempted to start up my car one day and the
engine shook pretty violently and loudly. (It has only happened once) The car
shakes when at idle or at very low speeds(<5mph). Shaking isn't noticeable when driving 10mph+. The RPM's seem to drop really low (500 or less, sometimes almost stalling) when shifting into reverse or drive, but then go back to relatively normal levels. The RPM's are pretty consistent and are not bouncing around, but the engine is still shaking. I have had CEL checked and it is reading P0300. All spark plugs have been replaced along with spark plug wires, as well as a fuel induction cleaner service has been done with my vehicle, but these haven't solved the problem. Throttle body and MAF sensor have been cleaned as well. Could this be a fuel injector/other fuel problem? Any thoughts would help!

I'm also having this same problem on a 2007 grand prix base model. Using fuel with no ethanol helps the problem, but doesn't solve it.

I believe it’s the manifold gasket having a air leak the one on top of engine im not really good with the actual names of parts but it’s running rich or lean cause of the air getting in and at low speeds your not firing a lot of gas to burn the air up causing bigger combustions cause if oxygen but when u go fast over 10 mph it burns the air up why it runs normal when your giving gas im trying to figure exactly what it is on my 2003 Grand Prix also pretty sure it’s that
