Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix and whenever I am driving and try to accelerate past 3500 rpm the engine will bog down basically and if I continue to press the gas after it bogs the engine will completely shut off and I have to pull over, let the car sit for 10-20 seconds, then start the car back up and continue driving. Basically I have to baby the car while driving and make sure I don’t push it past 3500 rpm which has lead to me driving very slowly around town as I have very slow acceleration. A few months ago I got a brand new trans from a trans shop in town and things were great until now, I feel like the computer in the car maybe needs a tune or the ECM just maybe needs a flash, i think it defiantly has to be a computer problem because if it was mechanical, I'd have way worse problems

Your best action instead of blindly replacing things is to have the error codes read by a parts store. That will at least give you a lead as to what the computer thinks is fouling your acceleration and limiting the RPM's. There are too many possibilities to just guess.

Sadly the car is not shooting any codes, I just delivered it back to the trans shop and they said they'd first go over their work to see if they messed anything up and then will go from there, just have to wait for them to call me back.

So the problem seemed to be my MAP sensor. I bought one on amazon for $15 and everything seems to be running like nothing ever happened. It makes sense that the MAP was the problem given the symptoms I just didn’t even think about it at first.
