What causes my car to lug when I press gas pedal and with hard braking, why does abs and traction control service system soon light come on?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I go t push in the gas pedal, my car lugs like it wants to die.  Once in a
great while, it actually will die but will restart.  It just keeps getting more
frequent and worse.  Then when I brake hard, the abs service system soon
light comes on along with the traction control light that comes on as well.

Those are things that even us gurus can't diagnose sight unseen. There are a number of things that could be causing those problems, or even multiple things. What you don't want to do is spend a ton of money on a 12 year old car, especially if its a high miler as well. Any repair shop should be able to read the trouble codes and do an evaluation and give you a repair estimate. Do that first, then decide if its worth fixing.
