Hi, how can you tell if you need a transmission flush? And how much does it cost? I have a Mitsubishi eclipse GT 2003.

Never flush a transmission unless it's on it's last gasp and you might get a few more miles out of it, if the fluid is brownish and has a burnt odor. If the fluid is a nice red, all a flush does is pick up small particles on the bottom of the pan and some cars have a magnet on the pan, that should be undisturbed by a flush...it picks up these small particulates on the bottom of pan where they do no harm and circulate them through your transmission doing far more harm than good. A fluid change, a drain and fill is fine, even recommended but not a flush on a good transmission
