You have to charge it on the low pressure side ONLY. That would be the bigger of the two air cond. lines. Usually there is a port that comes right out of the plastic box that is mounted to the firewall. Look for a port with a RED cap on it. Your Recharge kit hose will only fit on that line as the high pressure hose has a much bigger quick-connect port. It should take 3 cans to fill it . They are $15.00 each at autozone, don't forget a small can of oil first. If the third can won't empty try turning it upside down . Then it will go in as a gas not a liquid. Good Luck, Kenny.

My 2001 mercury grand marquis don't have a red cap on the low pressure line. The only valve that the hose fits is on the evaporator coil and the pressure is pushing out.

The question was NEVER answered. With no box or red cap what do I look for? Have you actually looked at a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis GL, at the engine itself??
