Was your battery drained recently? Air bags have a backup up battery system and the light will flash if it is drained. Other common causes are that the clock spring in the steering column needs replacing or the air bag module got wet.

The light flashes when you first start up to tell you that the air bag omputer is checking the system. If all is ok the light will go off. If the computer finds a problem the light will remain on steady to warn you that something is wrong with the air bag system and that the air bags have been disabled. They will NOT DEPLOY in a collision. HTH. -Jim
