what's average rpm's at 70mph?

Asked by robort Feb 12, 2008 at 10:40 PM about the 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS

Question type: General

My son just bought a used 2002 Santa Fe and while bringing it home, noticed the rpm's were close to 3000 while traveling at a rate of about 68-70 mph. I test drove it, but didn't notice the rpm's. Is this normal or is the overdrive not engaging?

o.d. switch is on shifterpush button od on od off 70 mph rpm around 2500 rpm in od.

Yes, I took my Dodge Ram '07 out the other day on the highway, and didn't realize I had OD off. When I hit the switch and stepped off the gas for a second RPMS immediately dropped from around 3k down to 2,000.
