what transmission will fit in a 1999 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 extended cab pick up. My trans went out yesterday and I found one and want to make sure it fits before I buy it.

If you have a 3 speed transmission it would be 3L80/ or3 L80-hd. Four speed is 4L60, 4L60-E and4L80-E. Electtonic controlled transmission. Make sure the tail shafts are the same.
