Dodge Grand Caravan ecm

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We just replaced the ignition coil and then
the ecm on our 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan.
The ecm came flashed from
carcomputerexchange.com. my old man
followed the directions given to us to install
it but after installing it the battery was dead.
We didn't have a battery charger or access
to one so he had someone try and jump it. It
wouldn't start. Did we mess up the new
module by jumping it? We have a charger
now and he is about to go try and reset it but
I really don't want to mess it up any further if
possible. I'm pretty positive we need to get a
battery but...Do we try resetting it? or should
we wait until we can get it checked by a
code reader again? Please any info is
appreciated!!

If your battery is really dead it's possible that it won't turn over fast enough to start. The best thing you can do is fully charge the battery and retry to start the engine. You can't mess up the new ECM by jump starting it unless you happen to cross positive and negative cables. Trust me, you would've noticed that spark. Charge the battery, clean the terminals on the posts and inside the cable ends and retry after at least 12 hrs charging on low.
