Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2002 double oh cam idle misfire. Code PO301 cyl 1 misfire. Code PO316 misfire detected
on start uo first 1000 rev.
Replaced spark plugs and wires. Same codes come up.
Above 1000 rpm engine runs smooth and performs well.
160,000 miles on vehicle
Help!

Since it only misses at idle and runs great above 1000 rpm I decided it must be a vacuum leak. Checked all hoses and pcv valve. They were all ok. Decided the intake manifold gaskets must be leaking. Pulled the upper and lower intake manifolds and replaced rubber gaskets. This resolved the issue. It idles and runs like a new car!

I'm 99% sure that's what I need to do! So did you do it yourself and how difficult was it? I need to fix my car soon and I don't trust anyone to work on it. I'm psyching myself up for the job. Please respond so I can pick your brain for info in case I get stuck. Thanks!
