06 ford focus died

Asked by toshak May 15, 2016 at 12:06 AM about the 2006 Ford Focus ZX3 SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm going to make this as detailed as i can
with what happened in a short time. I have
never had any problems like this before. I
drove home from work which is a 45 minute
drive and had no problems with my car at all.
iI don't know a lot about cars so bare with
me. As I pulled into my moms driveway i put
my car into park and it was revving up really
high by itself, to about 2000. It has done that
before but my bf said it was a lose sensor or
something and fixed it so I didn'tcthink
aanything of it. I shut the car off, then it
wouldn't start at all. It would turn over. So
they jumped it for me and once it started my
dash lights we're dim and the radio was just
static. The battery light wasn't on, the only
lights were the check fuel cap and engine
light. Which have been on for a while. Well
about 5 minutes down the road I hear a zzt
noise and then Ilose everything on my dash.
Speedometer and all of iits my car was still
running and my headlights still worked but
were dim. I had to get home cause I had my
son with me, well you could tell the car was
losing power, it was lurching forward hard
like it wanted to go, head lights kept getting
dimmer. As soon as I pulled into my
driveway my car died completely in an
instant, dome lights won't work or anything.
Ive never had this problem before.
