my 2001 ford explorer sport won't start when getting a jump it just makes a wierd noise when the jumper cables are on .then i take them off and i get no power no lights.

Start with checking the battery 12.6 volts and CCA rate load Ok? is it Old 60 months time to change it. Next. check all cables / wires for loose, corroded, damage inspect ALL fuses. IF all this does nothing! have a starter circuit voltage drop test done.
