I have an Eddie Bauer 2002 Ford Explorer 4WD. Seats will not adjust. If auto select 1 or 2 is used, driver seat will move. Can't move seat manually.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Other issues recently are:  Driving through Nevada last year display lights all went out.
When we stopped, restarted engine, all lights came back on for about 10 minutes, then
went out again.  This continued for two days.  We were driving in high winds.  Has not
happened since.

Alarm went off when any door opened from outside or inside. When engine started did not
do it again.  Happened once.

When we stop for gas, I get out of vehicle and close door.  Key is in ignition and it
continues to "ping" until wife removes key.

Door jaar light will come on and go off and on when a bump in the road is hit.

All these issues started happening recently, except the display light issue last year.

Had it in for repair and dealer said they can't replicate any of these, except the driver seat
doesn't move manually.  Will move when Auto 1 or 2 is selected.  They said we need two
modules, but the parts are no longer available because the Eddie Bauer Edition was
limited and Ford no longer makes parts available.  Not sure I believe that.

I am the only person who has no problem getting the ignition key inserted.  My wife and
my son have issues not being able to insert the key.  Could all these issues be related to
the ignition switch?  I thought computer modules simply went out and did not have
intermittent problems.

I need help with this issue.

The alarm, key pinging and door ajar light are all door ajar switch issues. Try spraying some wd 40 in the drivers door switch. Sometimes this will do the trick to get it operating properly again.

Wow! That's quite a list of irritation!! I have the 'door ajar' problem, mostly in the winter. I think it's because the seal around the hatch window needs to be replaced. The window rattles in the winter but in the summer, I think that seal expands and I have no problem. Just a thought ...
