is is ok to change a faulty oil pump on a 2006 Chevy Tahoe which has 252000 mile

oil pressure goes down to 0 while standing on a stop sign and sometime it
knocks. One mechanic said change the oil pump and the other mechanic said,
do not change oil pump on a high mileage(252,000) Chevy Tahoe, is that true?
Please advise.

You can change it but it may be a waste of money. I would look at installing a high volume pump to extend the life of the engine a bit.
