Hello, So recently over the past 3-4 days I noticed my truck started to have a rough idle and then it wasn't wanting to start. There wasn't a check engine light or any alert light.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my fiancĂ© changed the spark plugs. And now the problem is still there but a little worse and a service engine light has come on, and it flashes when I accelerate. Its stuttering when accelerating and still idling hard.  Any Ideas?

You have fuel injection... and your fuel is controlled by a computer. You might have a bad mass air sensor, or the throttle body needs to be cleaned. Google those for your truck type and you can clean/replace them yourself.

I know this is an old tread but The Gm distributors have a common failure where the bushing at the top get to much play in it cause the bodies are plastic with a plastic bushing that wears out and let the rotor bug move around and cause misfires.. The fix is to replace the distributor. I've seen this failure at as low as 45,000 miles they do make an upgraded distributor that has an aluminum body and brass bushings that is a more permanent fix.. I've replaced probably 250 of these distributors for this very same reason. When you pull it out you will notice the gear on the distributor is warn very badly as well this is caused by the play in the shaft. I've seen the play so bad that you could move the bug an inch back and forth.. Here is a picture of one that I just replaced that only had 61,545 miles on it. What causes this the most is not changing the oil and running dirty oil witch in turn eats the plastic bushing in the distributor.. Hope it helps any one with a v6 or v8 Vortec..
