4 wheel drive was not built for speed in high i would say 40-50 & that may be pushing it.Low 25 low is pure power and tourqe not speed your gear ratio could effect this also hope this helped

Break is right, 40-50 in hi. Low is just for getting out of tricky situations and is not for traveling

Not to be rude. Maybe you should not own a truck.what you are saying is you have very little exsperiance w/4x4..dry rd no 4x4.if you have a need for 4x4 you should not be driving fast

As fast as the truck will go without hitting rev limiter. The truck traveling at high speeds in and out of four wheel drive is irrelevant. The transfer case will gear the engine power down for increased wheel torque in high demand situations like deep mud or sand or snow which requires more torque. Or drag racing a short distance off road. I used my four low to get through some deep mud with about three inches of snow on top, wheels spun as fast as the Rev limiter would allow and I got through no worries didn't get my boots wet.

Non of these answers are saying why. actually you can run turbos and go over 100mph in four wheel drive. Just think of the traction you would have coming off the line, pulling four wheels all posi traction. None of these clowns said, "well at speeds over 85 you'll twist driveshafts" because there is no rules or proof. Guys racing in mud or sand are running 8,000 rpms, with 3/55 gears in front, 4/11 gears in rear all the time. On street you would want all the differentials and tire sizes the sam, but there is no rule saying not to use 4x4 over 100mph. AWD mercedes/ audis are built for high speed, the autoban is high enough speed for yA???

The difference is running on dry roads or in mud and AWD vs. 4wd. You will ruin a 4x4 driving locked in on dry roads regardless of speed. Racing only looks to get to the finish line that is a few feet away, not 200,000 miles away plus cost is of no object when racing. winning is everything. Drag racing a 4x4 with a huge amount of power would likely break the drive train really fast if you could not get some wheel spin.

4 low is redline limited - maybe 50. I have run really high speeds in 4 - high on a deserted desert dirt road - close to a hundred.

I had my Silverado 2500 -4 wheel drive serviced and did not realize that the tech left the truck in 4 wheel drive high. I drove the truck round trip for over a 125 miles at speeds of 80mph pulling my 20 ft covered trailer and had no problems at all. Although I wouldn't do it again( not that I knew I was) it seemed to drive fine and no rev limiter ever kicked in. The truck has 102k on the odometer and is a 2013.
