02 silverado 5.3liter no power at coils...

Asked by MikefromupperMichiga... Jun 15, 2017 at 10:53 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 chevy silverado with the 5.3
vortec.. Was raining here a few days ago and
I wanted to go fishing.. Well the road to the
fishing spot was nothing but muddy water..
Drove to fishing hole and on my way back
out I hit a decent sized puddle and my truck
dies due to water being sucked into cold air
intake.. Go to start and it ran for 3 seconds
and died.. Now all it does is cranks over with
no spark... Fuel pump kicks on.. I changed
crank sensor and cam sensor and also the
coolant temp sensor and cleaned all
grounds but one due to lack of space to
even reach it.. (firewall to head).. Please
help., I need my truck for work...

There is a good possibility that the engine ate enough water to Break the timing chain due to a sudden engine stop due to hydrostatic lock. Pull the cam sensor. look in the hole while someone cranks the engine and see if the cam is turning.Alternatively scan the codes and see if you have a cam/crank corelation problem.
