Low fuel pressure on my 2000 Silverado 5.3

Asked by grnfamily6_ Sep 10, 2018 at 06:53 PM about the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

No start symptom. Took the chevy dealer and they
looked at it and said the fuel pump was bad
causing the low fuel pressure. 50 psi. I bought the
truck home and change the pump. Still no luck  50
psi at the rail.
Changed the filter. No luck. 54 psi at the rail.
Changed the fuel regulator.  52 psi at rail.
Pulled line off filter and checked the pressure out of
the pump. 80-90 psi. Where do I go from here?

Update. I took the fuel and disconnected it from the rail. Then off the out side of the filter. Wrapped a cheese cloth around the fuel line and blow compressed air to back flush the fuel out thinking a line was clogged. I got a chunk of rust out about the size of a broken pencil lead. Reattached everything. Then I got 56 psi at the rail.

Check for restrictions in the Fuel System: fuel inlet strainer at fuel pump module base, Faulty fuel pressure regulator, Faulty fuel pressure port. To check for Fuel System pressure use a pressure gauge compatible with High-pressure fuel injection systems. Thanks
