Why does my motor only start when number 3 spark plug is disconnected

When starting my engine it won't start but I
disconnect number 3 spark plug and it
starts right up

If you reconnect the plug wire (wear gloves) while it's running does it still quit ? I suspect that plug has the electrode shorted ... before doing anything >>> Change the plug
