ELECTRICAL ISSUE A/C, DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER

Asked by migration_CYBERDALE Aug 17, 2013 at 04:38 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

MY MONTE CARLO HAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. WHEN I CRANK THE CAR AND
IT STARTS, THE DRIVER OVER HEAD INFORMATION CENTER DOES NOT BOOT
UP/ COME ON. ALSO THE A/C CONTROLLER DOES NOT WORK.  IN THIS
CONDITION THE A/C COMPRESER COMES ON WHEN THE CONTROLLER IS NOT
IN A CONDITION WHERE THE A/C SHOULD RUN. I ALSO HAVE NO BLOWER
MOTOR FAN IN ANY MODE.UP UNTIL TODAY I COULD ROTATE THE BLOWER
MOTOR FAN SPEED SELECTOR RAPIDLY AND THE A/C SYST WOULD OPERATE
NOMMINALLY AND THE DIC WOULD BOOT UP AS WELL. IS THIS THE IGNITION
SWITCH OR THE A/C CONTROLLER CAUSING THIS?

get a new battery...the new tin/antimony batteries will only last five years...after that will give bad performance and punish the alternator...clean the 1/0 cable as it attaches to ground (the end of the black cable) gets corroded from pullin' 300 cold cranking amps again and again....so not only are you getting crappy ground connection also to a reduced performance battery....get a new battery and clean the ground wire and you'll be good to go~

HEY Mr. Judge_Roy, I checked all of the reachable grounds in the engine bay disassembled and cleaned and the 1/0 cbl to the starter motor. Unless there is grounding in the dash area I have not checked yet (I assume yes); the grounds I checked and cleaned has not helped my issues. The BATT could definitely be the issue beause it came with the car and I have had the car for going on three years now. This will be the third winter since I have had it. I have run a deep cycle discharge and charge test though and the Batt took it pretty well. I now seem to no longer be able to get the blower motor fan to run in any mode n ow and I can not get heat at all. I am leaning to a bad A/C controller. What do you think now?

All I can suggest is the "power probe" using this you can test...you can "juice" with 12 breakered volts ----not only will it tell you what the wire is connected to (ground or hot) it has a built in breaker.....test ahoy~

It's the ignition module. Had the same issues as well as cruise control shutting off. Bought an ignition module off Ebay. Looked up how to install it on Youtube and have been great ever since
