96 Monte Carlo LS runs sluggish when hot out

Asked by Marc11379 Aug 04, 2020 at 12:28 PM about the 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 96 Monte Carlo LS that runs rough and the
check engine light comes on. It does not stall out
and doesn’t happen all the time. In the colder
weather the car runs great. I just had the entire
ignition replaced and coils. It was my dads car and
didn’t get used much. Only 34,000 original miles.

how long since overall tuneup? Any applicable trouble codes? if check engine lite comes on, should be a code present. Around here, some of the national brand auto stores will check po codes for free. If the problem is temp related, check the coolant temp sensor. when problem is ongoing, I'd want to see if system overfueling?
