2006 Corolla lifter noise? After oil change.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had my oil changed and a few weeks later my check engine light came on. My daughter
checked the oil and saw it was low so we got a new filter and oil to change it again. When
she got to the filter it was loose and that's where the oil was leaking from. Now my motor is
ticking and she says it's probably a bent lifter. Could that be the problem and how much
would it cost to fix something like that?

1st: check what type of oil was. 2004 & up comes w/ synthetic blend. you can change to full synthetic & change back to synth blend @ any time. the 1ZZFE motors don't tolerate conventional oil well. 2nd: try adding some Lucas Synthetic. 3dr: next time, before you change oil, drop about 1/4 bottle of Dextron VI (tranny fluid), run it for about 15 mins, let it sit for about 1hr, & change oil.

tranny fluid gets into hydraulic lifters quicker than reg motor oil, cleans all that cruud out & helps stop that ugly lifter sound . old GM trick (& it works), Kapish?
