1994 Ford explorer 4x4 4.0L

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

have a 1994 Ford Explorer 4x4 4.0L with 209,892
miles, I was parked with the engine at idle and
noticed a huge leak under the vehicle, with a pool
collecting, it had a dark pink in color, couldn't tell
where it was coming from but looked like under the
engine, so assuming it was power steering fluid.
But he or so later my transmission started slipping
baddly. And power steering is whining alot..what
would cause both to have issues at the same time.
Let me know thanks. And is this an simple one day
fix?

Did you check the fluid levels of the power steering and transmission? That may help you pinpoint where the fluid is coming from.

Usually a sudden leak at the transmission can be one of the cooler lines that run from the transmission to the bottom of the radiator or the transmission cooler. Check to cooler lines and repair if necessary and do not try to drive it with the transmission fluid low as you could damage the transmission driving it.
