2003 CR-V low pressure a/c line freezes

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 CR-V. The a/c works really well for an hour, then the low
pressure line freezes, and it stops blowing cold air. The expansion valve is
new, the seals are new, there is no apearent leak. I ran the a/c self diagnostic
test 3 times and it didn't blink any codes. What could be causing this
problem? Can anyone give me some insight on what should be checked next?

Check your a/c evaporator coil. I think there is one inside the cabin as well and if so, it is not easy to reach as it is behind the dash. If they are dirty or bent, this can cause a lack of airflow across it, dropping the temperature and causing your air conditioner to freeze up. I don't have my Mercury shop maintenance manual with me here, but if you go online, you will find lots of useful information.

The "coil" is new, the evaporator temperature bulb is also new... The relay is in good working order, the clutch is worn but engages as it's supposed to. I don't have access to a shop manual, so basically I'm in the dark as to what could be causing this problem. :(
